A Note From Me

Study May-30-09 was the 111th painting in 112 days and my final study for now. This blog has been and continues to be a wonderful experience on many levels and I want to thank everyone who has enjoyed the site.
I would like to share with you the simple reason why I started the Landscape a Day blog. On November 7th, 2008 I was in a very bad car accident. I suffered substantial injuries to my back, ribs and right shoulder. And yes for those of you wondering I am right handed! For two months, I was unable to draw and paint. Any efforts in trying resulted in tremendous pain. I became extremely frustrated. My injuries combined with the severe economic downturn we all faced was almost too much to deal with.
To get myself physically and mentally back into painting, I took little steps. I started doing small paintings -- the 6x8 inch studies -- to exercise my brain and my arm. After a couple of weeks, I had a bunch of these small paintings and thought that a blog could be an interesting way for me to share my work and grow stronger every day.
After painting all of these studies, I have come along way and am starting to work on my larger paintings again. Many of these current paintings will be based on the L.A.D. studies and will be exhibited at the Travis Gallery in New Hope this November.
As for the blog, I will no longer be posting one study a day but will continue to post various paintings that I'm working on and talk about what I'm doing so that the blog will become more of a glimpse into my studio and processes and some other surprises along the way on my new blog, peterfiore.blogspot.com. I hope you will continue to check in.
In other news, I will also be launching a Prints section on my website, PeterFiore.com.
Thank you all once again for your participation and support!
